Right In Florida

Motto: This is what happens when Insanity and Banality come together.

Name:
Location: North Central Florida, United States

I'm an aging boomer, white male (cue scary music); not religious, mostly conservative. Married to the same woman forever. No kids-by choice (I believe in personal choice in most areas of life). Voted mostly Republican until November 2000 when the national Democrats tried to steal the election in Florida. I promised to never again vote for another Democrat; kept that promise to date.

Religion of Peace, My Ass! (Part 20)

Just an update on a recent example of tolerance and peacefulness as practiced by very religious observers of the RoP (thru Michelle Malkin).

Hundreds of protesters brandishing swords and sticks gathered outside Khartoum’s presidential palace Friday to vent their anger against a British teacher jailed for allowing children to name a teddy bear “Mohammed.”

About 600 Islamic demonstrators piled out of mosques, chanting: “By soul, by blood, I will fight for the Prophet Mohammed.” Some of the protesters demanded the teacher’s execution, according to The Associated Press.

The agency reports that some chanted: “No tolerance: Execution,” and “Kill her, kill her by firing squad.”

I'm sure these adherents to the RoP represent only themselves. They are not examples of a huge number of their fellow believers. Right?

**************
By the way, my previous post elicited an anonymous comment which was appreciated, but really not on point. "Interesting, so if the IRA blows up airports in London in the name of a Catholic Irish land free of "protestant" British rule, according your logic, that means all catholics are peace hating terrorists. Interesting"

This is not the first time the whole Irish catholic/protestant nightmare has been brought up. I've always felt that religion had damned little to do with that. There's much more history that was and is involved. Frankly, the Irish would kill (and have killed) each other and others regardless, based so many past real and perceived slights and injuries. So I responded: "Oh, come off it, anonymous. What the hell did religion have to do with the IRA killings and other atrocities? It was clan, not religious conviction. Religion only came into the picture as a cover for secular, clannish brutality. Hell, the same is true with muslim on muslim violence. It's not religion (mostly) but years of hatred, stored up until the fuse is lit."

Religion, like explosives, can be a dangerous thing in the hands of children and child-like cultures. Many religions have been misused to harm others.

Eventually the Irish have (mostly) stopped killing each other. Even during the worst of the senseless violence, there were no catholic banners saying that protestants should be killed in the name of the pope. And no protestant religious leaders stood in front of their members and said "Christ commands you to kill (fill in the blank). And when you do, you get a free pass into heaven."

For all the problems I personally have with christianity, I well know that it was founded peacefully. Its holy book, the new testament, does not preach violence against others. Much wrong has been done in the name of christ; but that was centuries ago and due to the depravity of man. I think that so many more of the truly peaceful muslims should look at islam's current orthodoxy as practiced by its true believers.

(Yeah, some day I'll start up again on my problems with christianity, past and present. But since I'm already sounding like a 'hater,' that's for another time.)

ACLU, Help! Wesley Snipes is profiling me!

Hey, isn't racial profiling wrong and/or against the law?

OCALA - Lawyers for actor Wesley Snipes are seeking statistical demographic data about federal juries in Marion County in advance of Snipes' expected January trial on tax evasion charges.

The move comes on the heels of a motion Snipes lawyer Robert Bernhoft filed Nov. 5 that claims the Ocala area is "a hotbed of Klan activity," and too racist for Snipes to get a fair trial.

Snipes is charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud and one count of aiding and abetting the making of a false and fraudulent claim as part of a tax fraud scheme.

Robert Barnes, a member of Snipes' Milwaukee-based legal team, said the team is looking for any evidence of discrepancies in local jury pools between white and minority community members such as blacks and Hispanics. Unlike Florida juries, which come from driver license records, federal juries can come from voter registration records. Minorities can often be underrepresented in such records, Barnes said.

Where the hell are the ACLU shysters when you need them?

Murder in The Villages-Justice Begins (Part 3)

Okay, maybe not complete justice. At least not yet. First, a preliminary hearing.

OCALA - Defense lawyers called into question Wednesday the motives and credibility of a woman whose mother was killed and father wounded in a 2006 shooting in their home in The Villages.
Sheila Miller testified Wednesday in preparation for the upcoming murder trials of Renaldo McGirth, Jarrord Roberts and Theodore Houston. All three men are charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery and kidnapping. McGirth also is charged with felony fleeing and eluding.
***********
Miller spoke in a dull monotone for most of the day, but grew agitated when lawyer Henry Ferro, representing Roberts, asked whether she conspired with the three men to kill her parents.
"You planned, with Mr. McGirth, the murder of your mother, isn't that true?" Ferro asked. "You knew if you could murder your mother and your father, you could get over $700,000 to feed your drug habit."
Miller responded angrily. "No, I did not murder my mother," she said loudly.
Sheila Miller said she hadn't spoken to her father since the incident, because he has a restraining order against her.
Houston is scheduled to go to trial Dec. 10., and McGirth and Roberts are set for a joint trial starting Jan. 22. If convicted on the murder charges, McGirth and Roberts could face the death penalty. Houston, 18, is not eligible for the death penalty because he was 17 when the crime took place.

So it's official. Sheila Miller didn't do it. They did. She knew nothing about it. Never knew it could possibly happen. She was a victim! How could she possibly know this could or would happen.

She's to be the chief witness against the 3 murderers. The star actually.

Something tells me her story's not going to survive the actual trial once the 3 defendants' lawyers get through with her. I really hope the state has even greater evidence other than the testimony of a probable co-conspirator.

Stay tuned, folks. I really believe justice will eventually prevail.

Religion of Peace, My Ass! (Part 19)

Well, it could have been much worse.

British teacher Gillian Gibbons has been convicted of inciting religious hatred for letting her pupils name a teddy bear Muhammad and sentenced to 15 days in prison and deportation from Sudan, one of her defense lawyers said Thursday. British teacher Gillian Gibbons has been convicted of inciting religious hatred for letting her pupils name a teddy bear Muhammad and sentenced to 15 days in prison and deportation from Sudan, one of her defense lawyers said Thursday.

Who knew the name Muhammad was blasphemous? Or maybe I missed something about this whole incident. Hell, half of the muslim world (male that is) seems to be named some variation of the prophet (may his beard never fall off).

Notice how compassionate is this religion of 'peace.' Some unsuspecting woman who is a booster of muhammadism could have been lashed, imprisoned for months and perhaps killed.

Instead the religious leaders of the peaceful followers of the prophet (may his mountain always come to him) will instead almost give the infidel a pass. Wow, such magnanimity!

Truly a religion of peace. Perhaps I've been wrong all this time.

Another Marion County Genius

Yep, we have another winner in the "How to Make Easy Money" right here in Marion County.

OCALA - A woman who reportedly confessed to Marion County sheriff's deputies that she stuffed the body of her 83-year-old mother into two black garbage bags and dumped her along a dirt road so she could cash her retirement check was arrested Tuesday and charged with failure to report a death, a misdemeanor.
***************
Loreth originally told investigators that her mother died Sept. 4 at her Umatilla home. She originally said she did not report the death because she was being evicted. Loreth said she asked a friend to call a cremation business "to handle the disposal of her mother," and she moved out, "leaving her mother inside," according to reports.

But detectives didn't believe her story and questioned her again. That's when she admitted putting her mother "into two black garbage bags and then placed her into a U-Haul truck that she had rented to move out of the residence," according to Mongeluzzo's report.

Loreth admitted to driving the truck to Lake County and left the bags that contained her mother's body on the side of the road. She told officials that she didn't report the death "because she wanted to keep cashing a monthly retirement check that the decedent was getting from the railroad."
***************
Deputies eventually found other remains, including part of a hip replacement rod with a serial number traced to Vasa.

Another home grown genius. We are so proud.

Thanks for being a true friend, John Howard

John Howard has been a true friend as Prime Minister. The Australian people have screwed up, much as the American people did in 2006.

Well, water under the bridge. Their choice...America's loss.

And while I'm at it

Here are two more recent examples (from Fox News) of 'peace' as practiced by followers of the prophet. There are so many more throughout most of the Muslim world.

First:
The homicide terror bomb used in an assassination attempt on former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto last month may have been strapped to a 1-year-old child who was being carried by his jihadist father, The Australian newspaper reported Thursday.

The bomb, which killed 170 people and injured hundreds more, detonated during a crowded procession for Bhutto as she returned from exile.

Investigators from Bhutto's
Pakistan People's Party said the homicide bomber tried repeatedly to carry the baby to Bhutto's vehicle as it proceeded through the streets of Karachi.

AND

Second:
BAGHDAD, Iraq — A homicide bomber detonated his explosives as American soldiers were handing out toys to children northeast of Baghdad on Sunday, killing at least three children and three of the troopers, U.S. and Iraqi authorities said.

Seven children were wounded in the attack in Baqouba, where U.S. soldiers wrested control from Al Qaeda in Iraq last summer.

Yeah, I know. These are just a couple of cherry-picked items and that most Muslims are peaceful blah, blah, blah. And I know there have been so many atrocities committed by Christians in the past blah, blah, blah.

Here's the deal. The Christian atrocities occurred a very long time ago. The horrors of Islam are of current vintage. That makes a difference.

After all, I think damned few of us are really concerned that we will be subjected to the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition.

Thanksgiving 2007

A sincere "Thank You" to all the military men and women are serving or who have served our country.

Freedom isn't free, it's often been said.

It's been purchased by the valor, blood and sacrifice of others.

And I appreciate it.

Religion of Peace, My Ass! (Part 18)

It's been a long time since I've posted under the heading of Religion of Peace, My Ass! Maybe because I realized how hateful it could make me seem? Nah...it was because there are just too damn many examples of horrors and terrors committed in the name of the religion. So, what to choose? And there are just too damn few examples of 'peace.'

But sometimes you just gotta say something. Like this story of an atrocity as relayed through Fox News.

A 19-year-old Saudi woman who was kidnapped, beaten and gang raped by seven men who then took photos of their victim and threatened to kill her, was sentenced under the country's Islamic-based law to 90 lashes for the "crime" of being alone with a man not related to her. (Read further to find out just what a piece of work this guy is.)
*************************
Lashes are usually spread over several days. About 50 lashes are given at a time. (How compassionate!)
*************************
Five of the rapists were arrested and given jail terms ranging from 10 months to five years. The prosecutor had asked for the death penalty for the men. (Now that was appropriate.)

The Saudi justice ministry, however, said rape could not be proved because there were no witnesses and the men had recanted confessions they made during interrogation. (Under the RoP, the raped and abused woman is not believed. Can't have women being equal to men, after all. That would really piss off Allah.)

The judges, basing their decision on Islamic law, also decided to sentence the woman and her original blackmailer to lashes for being alone together in his car. (And now, all is right with the world. Compassion is not part of the RoP. But keeping women in their place...that's what it is all about.)

Islam: a dark ages religion, as practiced in the home of the prophet.

Why I voted for Katherine Harris (Part 5)

Answer still is: Sen. Bill Nelson.

On Friday, the Senate Leadership – Sens. Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer and Patty Murray – will urge the President to sign the Iraq spending bill and lay out a strategy to change the mission in Iraq from policing a civil war to focusing on counter-terrorism.

The $124.2 billion bill requires troop withdrawals to begin Oct. 1, or sooner if the Iraqi government does not meet certain benchmarks. The House passed the measure Wednesday by a 218-208 vote.

Four RINOs (the usual suspects) voted for this bill. All Senate Democrats but one (and only because he thought the bill didn't go far enough) voted for this piece of crap legislation. And that included our dear ol' Bill Nelson.

Yep-my vote for Katherine looks better and better.

Bill Nelson-party before patriotism.

Tell me again: why did YOU vote for him?

By the way, notice how the supposed moderate and conservative Democrats voted. (Hey, Sen. Webb!) I say again, there are no longer any patriots within that party.

Rudy Guiliani at The Villages

THE VILLAGES - Nearly 1,000 Rudy Giuliani supporters flooded Market Square at Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages Thursday afternoon to hear their presidential hopeful speak.
Some had been waiting since 11 a.m. for the 2:30 p.m. rally.
Everyone had to wait a while longer to see the former New York mayor, who took to the stage an hour later than expected. But Giuliani's tardiness didn't stop the crowd from cheering and chanting, "Rudy! Rudy!" when he arrived.

Yep, Republicans do well here in Marion County (and environs). I hope it's good enough come next election.

Motivated...but caught anyway

Well, it's over. The little gun-wielding punk has been caught. Along with his 'gun moll.'

OCALA - Two people have been arrested in connection with the rash of parking lot burglaries in the Ocala area over the past four days.
Police officials have identified the two as Jessy Burrows, 17, of the Dunnellon area, and Amanda Ann Guinto, a 20-year-old Central Florida Community College student. She lives a 8247 S.W. 103rd St.
Both were arrested Thursday at Guinto's home. They surrendered without incident, Ocala police Sgt. Lou Biondi said.
Marion County sheriff's Maj. Chris Blair said both suspects are being charged with five counts of armed robbery and one count of dealing in stolen property.

Bonnie and Clyde-Ocala style.

We are so proud.

Motivated in Marion

That is definitely what one of our punks is...motivated.

OCALA - The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Office are offering a combined reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the armed bandit who has held up five people in the past three days.

Detectives at both agencies are making a concerted effort to find the hooded robber who has robbed or attempted to rob people in parking lots around Ocala.

But he's not too competent.

He let two victims off, and got 11 cents from another. It would almost be laughable, but the punk's got a gun. And it seems practice has made his heists better...or at least bolder. His last parking lot holdup got $180.

Officials said the SR 200 robber was described as an 18- to 25-year-old white male about 5 feet 7 inches tall and roughly 140 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jean shorts.

Frankly, the piss ant needs to meet up with someone else who has a gun.

I think I may just go shopping this evening.

Oh, no! Wesley Snipes thinks I'm a racist!

How can I live with myself?

That's right. The attorneys for tax evader Wesley Snipes thinks we backwoods, sister breeders are all racists. Too racist to fairly decide the man was just that....in addition to being an idiot.

OCALA - A lawyer for Wesley Snipes is trying to have his trial on tax evasion charges moved from Ocala to Manhattan, on the grounds that the Ocala area is too racist to allow the black actor a fair trial.
In a motion filed Monday in U.S. District Court, Snipes' lawyer Robert Bernhoft argued that the U.S. Attorney's Office willfully selected Ocala as the site of the trial because prosecutors wanted "a jury as partial and prejudicial as possible against Snipes."
The motion uses the term "Ocala" to refer to the four counties included in the court's Ocala division - Marion, Lake, Citrus and Sumter. Snipes' co-defendant Eddie Ray Kahn operated his Guiding Light of God Ministries, which prosecutors claim provided tax evasion information, from Lake County.
The motion goes on to describe the area as "a hotbed of Klan activity where the Klan adopted highways to commemorate the Klan and the Confederate flag flies over government property."

Well I'm so offended!

And a little pissed.

I think I'll mention that at the Klan meeting tomorrow night.

Knuckeheads of the Day marathon

Bill, The Florida Masochist, completed another Knuckleheads marathon on November 3rd, yet had more left over for the following day.

As he explains it:
Nov 1st- All Saints Day
Nov 2nd- All Souls Day
Nov 3rd- All Knuckleheads Day

Now that's something to celebrate!

As you know, Bill has had a medical issue recently, but he's handling it well. He also got media credentials to cover the LPGA golf tournament in West Palm Beach in two weeks. Congratulations, Bill! Regular readers will know how much he is into golf. Very knowledgable and interesting, even for those who know little of golf.

Murder in The Villages-Justice Begins (Part 2)

Well, justice has been slowed down a bit. The 'alleged' murderers lawyers were granted a couple of months to get their stories in place.

My previous post got some interesting comments from a couple of people (friend and family) who know so much more about the family.

I thank them so much for sharing with us.
